Seville Heritage Park

Seville is one of Jamaica’s oldest and most historically rich sites, often regarded as the island’s starting point. Inhabited for over a thousand years, it began as the Taíno village of Maima before becoming the first Spanish capital, Sevilla la Nueva, in 1509. The area later evolved under English control into a major plantation. Seville reflects the intertwined histories of the Taíno, Spanish, Africans, and English, making it a powerful symbol of Jamaica’s cultural origins.
